Meek Mill is reportedly facing misdemeanor assault charges after a fight broke out at St. Louis International Airport, reported TMZ.
According to the entertainment news website, an airport employee allegedly accosted Meek Mill — whose real name is Robert Williams — Wednesday (March 15), asking for a photo with the MMG rapper.
When Meek Mill declined, a physical altercation is said to have ensued. Airport police were called to the scene and Meek along with two employees were taken into custody.
All three were charged with misdemeanor assault and were given citations to appear in court at a later date.
The “Dreams and Nightmares” rapper is already on probation for a 2008 conviction for drug dealing and gun possession. This new arrest could result in a phone call from his parole officer.
Last year, Meek Mill avoided jail time in his probation violation case and was sentenced to 90 days house arrest. He was ordered to wear an ankle bracelet and to complete community service with adults.
During his 2015 probation hearing, Meek Mill’s then-girlfriend Nicki Minaj, testified on his behalf, asking the presiding judge to grant Meek Mill leniency.
“She’s not going to be the one sleeping alone if he goes to jail. I am,” Minaj testified on Dec. 10, according to the Associated Press. “He’s not perfect, but I can’t believe how much he’s changed.”
She continued, “He doesn’t have a lot of structure. He can be irresponsible. Since I’ve come in his life, I think I’ve been working on that a little bit . . . He’s just getting accustomed to being an adult.”
That same day, Meek Mill took to Instagram to write that the possibility of returning to jail was having an emotional toll on him.
“I’m actually fighting for my life and freedom . . . It’s funny to see people on the Internet laughing and joking about me and my family going [through] these things . . . Thank you to everybody that ever supported and I will continue to [be] great! If this is my last post, know I will continue to remain strong and grow to [be] a better man,” he wrote.
Meek Mill is set to perform at “Make Trap Great Again” showcase at SXSW on March 18.
