The critically-acclaimed actress was spotted on a New York City movie set holding a handbag that had the Obamas photo emblazoned on it.
The admiration between Streep and the Obamas is mutual.
When Obama presented Streep with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014, he sung high praises of the Oscar-winning actress.
“I love Meryl Streep,” he said per White House reporter Jennifer Bendery. “Her husband knows I love her. Michelle knows I love her. There’s nothing they can do about it.”
He continued, “She’s done it all for her craft.”
The former First Lady interviewed Streep for More magazine. The two discussed a range of topics including motherhood and raising strong young women. Michelle is the mother of two daughters; Meryl is the mother of three.
“People will say to me, ‘You’ve played so many strong women’ and I’ll say, “Have you ever said to a man, ‘You’ve played so many strong men?’” No! Because the expectation is [men] are varied,” Streep said. “Why can’t we have that expectation about women? My girls [Mamie, 32; Grace, 29; and Louisa, 24] came into the world strong – which was terrifying.
Michelle added: “I never sit down and lecture them about self-confidence. You sneak those conversations in when you’re talking to them about their friendships, or about the challenges they faced in a game, or something that their dad said that made them mad. That’s when I find they’ll hear the messages most.”
