Nicki Minaj will be the star witness in her brother’s child molestation trial, reports the New York Post.
Jelani Maraj, the oldest brother of the “Anaconda” rap star faces decades in prison after Nassau County prosecutors say he repeatedly molested his wife’s daughter.
According to the state, Maraj’s seedy behavior was discovered by his eight-year-old stepson, who waltzed in on the 38-year-old raping the young girl in a spare bedroom of the family’s home.
The young boy told Child Protective Services of what he witnessed, at which the authorities were contacted. A search of the house uncovered a pair of the girl’s pajama pants, soiled with Maraj’s DNA, the prosecutor said.
“He had sex with that 11-year-old girl sometimes four times a week,” the prosecutor told jurors Thursday.
Maraj’s attorney David Schwartz paints a different picture.
Schwartz claims Jacqueline Robinson’s actions are motivated by money. He contends Robinson told Minaj that she “can make the charges go away for $25 million.”
Per Forbes, Minaj raked in nearly $20 million last year.
According to Schwartz, Robinson placed her husband of four months DNA on her daughter’s clothing and strategically placed them in an area where authorities would find them.
“Why would [Robinson] lie and force her children to lie? I can give you 25 million reasons why,” Schwartz told jurors.
“Jackie became obsessed with Nicki Minaj — getting her hands on her money,” the lawyer added.
“An evil Jackie targeted him,” the lawyer said, pointing to Maraj, “trying to get him to marry her, and then just four months after they were married, we have this.”
Minaj has stood by her sibling’s side, putting up 100 grand for his bond. She has not made any public statements about the alleged crime. It is unclear if she will take the stand in her brother’s defense.
The trial continues.
