Remy Ma faces third-degree assault charges after turning herself in to police for attacking a former reality television castmate.

The incident occurred April 16 when Remy Ma allegedly punched Brittney Taylor in the eye at Irving Plaza located in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan. The two, who appeared on VH1’s Love and Hip-Hop: New York, were attending a fundraising concert hosted by Fat Joe.

Remy Ma, whose full name is Reminisce Smith Mackie, turned herself into the 13th Precinct in Manhattan around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. She was released on $1,500 bail and is expected to have zero contact with Taylor. A judge also ordered an 8 p.m. curfew for the “All the Way Up” rapper.

Taylor claims Remy Ma, 38, punched her in the right eye, causing bruising and swelling, which prompted the 29-year-old to seek treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital. Taylor posted a photo of her injury to Instagram and has since deleted the post.

“This arrest demonstrates how serious this matter is,” Taylor’s attorney, Sandford Rubenstein, said. “It is real life and not reality TV entertainment. The victim, Brittney Taylor, has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”

Rubenstein added, “A conversation did take place involving Remy Ma’s stepchild. I don’t have any details with regard to the specifics of the conversation, but that’s what led up to the event.”
On April 19, Taylor told the New York Daily News that the entire incident was a misunderstanding. She said she “defended” Dejanae – Remy’s stepdaughter – from an abusive man who was physically assaulting her.

“What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive [when Brittany told her at Irving],” she said. “She was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face.”

Taylor also said she wants the Bronx rapper to be held accountable for her actions.

“I just don’t feel like it’s okay for people to put their hands on someone that’s not being malicious to them, that’s being genuine,” she added

“She’s supposed to be someone with the status and power that she can use for good or bad,” she said. “She shouldn’t be punching someone — punching someone so hard in the face to the point that here we are four days later and my eye’s only getting worse. It really hurts.”

Remy Ma’s attorney, Dawn Florio, told TMZ all of the allegations leveraged against her client is false. Florio said she has video evidence that will place Remy in her residence at the time Taylor alleged the attack happened. Florio also found it suspicious that Taylor sought a civil lawyer to represent her.

In 2014, Remy Ma was released from prison after serving eight years in prison for shooting a woman. She completed her parole in August but could find herself back in prison if convicted of assaulting Taylor.

Media But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness.

No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful.
