STARZ announced Tuesday it will launch a forensic investigation to catch the suspect(s) who leaked three episodes of “Power.”
However, STARZ might not have to look far as seems the suspect is right under its nose — 50 Cent.
Fiddy — who also serves as executive producer and stars in the hit series — seemingly confessed to the deed in an Instagram post on Wednesday (Aug. 16), while boasting about Power’s high television ratings.
“POWER Ratings up another 10 percent for episode 408,” he wrote. “They glad I leaked the shit now. LOL #SAVAGELIFE Now watch what I do on BET. #50Centralbet.”
It’s unclear if 50 Cent (born Curtis Jackson) is being facetious or not. There’s been a spate of shows leaking, including popular HBO hit “Game of Thrones” and Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black.”
On Sunday, three episodes of “Power” surprisingly appeared on Facebook. A person claimed to have received a password to the press screening website where members of the media get early access, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The unknown man is seen watching the series on a cracked iPhone where he occasionally gives commentary on the scenes. At one point, the man pans the camera towards his face, according to Torrent Freak.
After the episodes leaked, STARZ quickly condemned the act.
“The final three episodes of Power’s fourth season were leaked online due to a breach of the press screening room,” a STARZ spokesperson said. “This seems to be a case of password sharing that resulted in homemade videos of the episodes which were taped off a TV screen and posted online. STARZ has begun forensic investigations and will take legal action against the responsible parties.”
